ticking boxes…

I’ve been meaning to write for a while but I didn’t want to write for the sake of it…but a conversation today has again sparked my thoughts

Am I going to spend my life following the next big craze, jumping on the next bandwagon, reading the next hit book and talking about the up and coming leaders and new ‘irresistible revolutions’? – Billy Graham, Steve Chalke, Rob Bell, Todd Bentley, Shane Claiborne

Am I going to spend my life ‘ticking all the right boxes’? (to quote Simon Bray) – GCSE’s, A-Levels, Degree, Job, Marriage, Kids, Pension

Am I going to spend the whole of my life waiting for me life to being?

If anything struck me at Soul Survivor it was how people always were eager to pray for the people where God was obviously already working, but not for others. We are drawn to where God is working.

But who will go to where God isn’t working? To the lonely, quite, dark, hard places.

If you light a candle in the middle of a sunny day its light cannot be seen, but if you stick it in a pitch-black room it’ll light the whole room up.

As I begin to seriously, and anxiously, make plans about my life after Uni, it is these kinds of questions I’m asking myself.
